Administrative HistoryThe Crewe Co-operative Friendly Society Limited was founded in 1845, opening the first store in Earle Street, Crewe. The founding secretary of the Society was James Ainscow.
The Society opened its first bakery in 1857, coal business in 1858, butchery in 1859 and drapery in 1862.

In 1959 the Society opened their new central headquarters, known as Co-operative House on Market Street in Crewe.

The Crewe Co-operative Friendly Society merged with the North Midland Co-Operative Society in 1972.
